Posted 10 years, 1 month ago    0 comments

Two casual work opportunities are available for Gardening and Cleaning work.

In the Gardening role you must have good gardening knowledge - the work would involve care of roses, trees, hedges and box hedges.  Also some fruit tree pruning, mowing of lawns, weeding and  general section maintenance e.g. sweeping, water blasting and using a leaf blower etc.

A seperate casual interior cleaning role is available as needed.

Ideally applicants will reside close to the Claudelands area.

From Cow Paddock to Botanical Gem: An Historical Tour of the University of Waikato Gardens

The original horticulturist/botanist who designed the University of Waikato Gardens, Ron Lycette, is returning briefly from Melbourne to take three separate tours of the University gardens, so the public, and especially those who are environmentally focussed, are invited to join us on a 50th Anniversary Celebration Tour of the beautiful University of Waikato gardens:

Horticulturist Ron Lycette, who directed the creation of this botanical treasure, presents a brief history of the background and development of this uniquely designed landscape. Ron’s talk will be followed by a leisurely guided tour through the transformative landscape that continues to flourish and delight throughout each season of the year. The tour will be augmented by a delicious high-tea in the gardens.
Date: Ron will present the tour on three separate occasions. Please choose the date that suits you below: Saturday 8th November (2pm-5pm)

Sunday 9th November (2pm-5pm) Wednesday 12th November (2pm-5pm) Meeting Point: Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts, Te Whare Tapere Iti, Gate 2B Knighton Road. Cost: Gold coin/koha door donation goes towards Stage 2 of the Rongoa (Maori medicine) garden. NB: the tours are limited to 30 people, so registrations are essential to secure your place. Please RSVP your name(s) and your date choice from the above selection to: rsvp@waikato.ac.nz
